Gradio and Streamlit: Ship a Demo in 20 Minutes
When your model or pipeline needs a UI today and nobody wants to build a frontend.
Gradio and Streamlit are Python-friendly ways to put a UI in front of a model, script, or data workflow without building a full frontend.
They are not replacements for every production app. They are excellent for demos, internal tools, experiments, and "please let someone try this without opening a notebook."
Gradio
Gradio is especially common for ML demos. It makes it easy to expose inputs and outputs for models: text boxes, image upload, audio, sliders, buttons, and generated results.
It is heavily associated with Hugging Face Spaces.
Streamlit
Streamlit is broader. It is good for data apps, dashboards, internal review tools, and workflows where Python state and UI live close together.
The decision
Use Gradio when the core is "try this model or pipeline."
Use Streamlit when the core is "explore this data or internal workflow."
Use a real frontend when UX, authentication, permissions, design, and long-term product behavior matter.
